It’s even more funny because Boomers are the ones who bought like 90% automatic cars in the 70s and 80s. Manuals are, if anything, seeing a resurgence in popularity because of Millenials and Gen Z (which is what most old fogeys are actually referring to when they refer to Millenials).

Its not a good sign of mental health to hate an entire large generation of people enough to make blanket statements and generalizations and plaster it publicly on your vehicle everywhere you go all while elevating your generational to sainthood and ignoring anything negative like bigotry, hate, killing social security or the E arth for everyone who follows your generation.

Not everyone is good, not everyone is bad. Black and white thinking is bad though. Some millennials can and do drive stick some don’t. Some people in the older generations can and do drive stick and some don’t.

How about we stop the hate and instead try to help others and ourselves.

I’m a millennial and I’m sick of all the hate aimed my way from people who don’t know me. Also many of the things they are bitching about is caused by them. Maybe we wouldn’t be “ruining” the housing market if college wasn’t so expensive and we didn’t have crippling debt. Maybe we’re not the cause of everything going  wrong. We are a generation that will be worse of than our parents and we were born into it. We didn’t choose this we just have to do what we can to survive and live it which will be different than our parents and the older generations. It will be harder and we shouldn’t be hated for that.

Hmmmm. Full disclosure: I appear to be a GenX with a manual obsession. And yet they go away at a rate of knots...but only in many of the models that the Xers and Boomers can afford.

The little cars and entry level mid sizers still have manual boxes. And some are coming back in other models that aren’t so called millennium bait .

A good example here in Oz is VW bringing the manual on the Amarok V6 TDI. So far its only ever had the auto. Awesome engine, good vehicle, manual box, basic trim and it gives VW an argument under fifty grand retail for punters to swap bling in other similar priced utes for actual performance .
